North Melbourne gamers have traditionally voted to advertise Luke McDonald and Jy Simpkin to the co-captaincy after long-time skipper Jack Ziebell stood down forward of the 2023 AFL season.
Zeibell will stay a part of the management group after six years and 111 video games within the high job.
But father-son decide McDonald (27) and midfielder Simpkin (24) – final 12 months’s vice-captains – will share the reins because the membership’s first co-captains.
“The leadership vote was values-based, with a focus on who best represented our Shinboner Spirit,” North Melbourne soccer boss Todd Viney stated.
“From the vote, we couldn’t split Luke and Jy in terms of the influence they’ve had on the playing group and the club as two of our key leaders.”
Simpkin has gained back-to-back membership greatest and fairest awards and enters the brand new function on the again of a wood spoon and the arrival of coach Alastair Clarkson.
“They are both equally as passionate about getting the club back to where it needs to be, developing our young talent and fostering a positive club culture,” Viney stated.
Existing management group members Ben Cunnington and Nick Larkey will proceed of their positions in 2023 whereas 24-year-old Ben McKay joins the management group for the primary time.
